‘We’re broken’: Family of missing Amy Fitzpatrick hopes ‘new tactic’ will solve 15-year-old case

Amy’s father Christopher joined Amy’s aunt Christine Kelly on Tuesday as they filed a letter calling on authorities to investigate the abandoned racetrack in Mijas.

“Please intercede on our behalf with the Guardia Civil in relation to the disappearance of Amy Fitzpatrick,” the letter said.

“Despite new evidence and information being passed on where she might be found, nothing has been done to try to find her. No area search or information tracking.

“As a family we ask for your help. Our family is heartbroken, please help us find Amy and bring her home and put her to rest.”

Kelly told the olive press she is ‘desperately waiting for action’ after her repeated pleas continue to fall on deaf ears with the Irish authorities.

“This is about bringing a child home, giving Amy a proper burial and holding those involved in her disappearance accountable,” he said.

The case was raised in the lower house of the Irish parliament last week when Dublin Bay North Social Democrat member Cian O’Callaghan asked Irish Foreign Minister Michael Martin to meet the Fitzpatrick family.

“I will provide the schedule for such a meeting,” Martin promised.

“It is a desperately sad situation and consular officers over the years have been in continuous contact with the family and Guardia in terms of the Spanish police.”

Amy was just 15 years old when she disappeared from Mijas Costa on New Year’s Day 2008.
