If you have a smart meter and your energy provider offers the service, then you can sign up. If you subscribe to the DFS scheme, you will need to authorize your provider to access your smart meter so they can read your data every half hour between peak hours. The plan is scheduled to remain in effect until the end of March.

Scheme users will receive an alert the day before telling them which window they need to reduce energy use, for example 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm
