TWO members of a gang of thieves from Mallorca have been arrested by the National Police in Palma and Barcelona, and a third is still on the run.
The group was described as “dangerous” for its crimes, including the theft of a Rolex watch valued at 10,000 euros from a man in his seventies who was walking along the Paseo Marítimo in Palma.
They specialized in targeting elderly people with one of the gang members driving a rental car while the other two searched for potential victims.
The men followed their target until they could attack at the ideal time to rob them and they could safely flee the scene of the crime without being caught by the police.
Police investigations revealed that the trio was also behind five robberies at car rental companies, gas stations and shops.
The two men arrested, ages 44 and 51, have been charged with committing robbery with violence.
The search for the duo’s missing colleague is still ongoing.
