THE story of a ‘fierce cat’ lurking in the quiet Cadiz municipality of Los Barrios made headlines across the country several weeks ago, and images of the ‘big cat’ went viral.
The pursuit of a wild cat by a ‘big cat’, believed by many to be an albino leopard or a ‘kingpin’ Siberian white tiger, has ended in a bit of an anticlimax after it was discovered that it is actually just a harmless kitten. . .
After days of surveillance and investigation by Seprona, the Civil Guard Nature and Wildlife Protection Service, the mayor of the town, Miguel Alconchel, has announced that the feline sighted is nothing more than a domestic cat of big size.
“According to the investigations they have carried out and the analysis of the images, Seprona has concluded that there was not such a ferocious feline, but rather an ordinary cat.” Alconchel said.
In the end, although the incident was taken seriously, fortunately it ended in a scare and an anecdote for the neighbors.
“The matter was not as serious as it was painted.” Alconchel concluded.
