AIRPORTS serving the Costa Blanca and Murcia areas of Spain have received ‘Best Airport in Europe’ awards from an industry body.
The honors come from Airports Council International (ACI) with members operating nearly 2,000 airports worldwide.
The Alicante-Elche airport won the category of best European airport for facilities that accommodate between 15 and 25 million passengers.
It previously won ACI’s crown for “Best Airport” in 2018 and 2019.
The airport manager, Laura Navarro, said: “This is a real stimulus to continue providing the best services to passengers and to develop improvements in our facilities.”
Corvera airport, which replaced San Javier as Murcia’s regional airport in January 2019, left with the category of ‘less than two million passengers’.
It also won awards for ‘Easiest Airport Journey’ and ‘Cleanest Airport’ in Europe in the same two million and under section.
Corvera’s boss, Carlos Domingo San Martín, commented: “It is a recognition to all the staff who work hard as we strive to improve our offer.”
