Lisa Brown, feared assassinated in Spain, would have celebrated her 40th birthday this Friday.
Instead, tears flowed for the mother-of-one at the site of her mother’s grave in Alexandria, northwest of Glasgow, where her sister launched balloons into the air and had only one wish; justice for her younger brother.
The main suspect in the case escaped from jail in the UK IN November and remains at large.
Dean Woods, aka Simon Corner, was out on the day from HM Prison Sudbury, in Derbyshire, when he went on the run and did not return.
The 40-year-old luxury yacht trader served just two years of a 12-year prison sentence for his part in a €9 million cocaine ring.
Woods has long been suspected of being behind the disappearance of his ex-partner Lisa Brown.
He was questioned by Spanish police after the mother-of-one, from Scotland, failed to pick up her eight-year-old son from school in Guadiaro, near Sotogrande in Andalusia, where he lived.
He had been living in Spain since he was 18 years old and had just started working in Gibraltar for an online gambling company when he disappeared.
Lisa’s sister, Helen Jordan, said Friday was not the kind of birthday loved ones wanted for Lisa.
“We will never be able to properly honor Lisa as long as the prime suspect is still on the run and as long as we don’t yet have any knowledge of what happened to Lisa,” he told the outlet. olive press.
“Lisa isn’t really at peace, she’s been dropped off somewhere, so how can she be at peace?
“He could have married again and had more children, he was only 32 years old.
“She could have had a daughter, but she’ll never get the chance to do any of that.”
Derbyshire Police confirmed to olive press Woods was still on the run after escaping from prison on November 19 and may have fled to Northern Ireland.
“We are continuing to make inquiries and request information to find Dean Woods,” a spokesman said.
“Woods has links to the Liverpool area, and we are also looking into the possibility that he may have traveled to Northern Ireland.”
Officers had been investigating Woods, from Liverpool, after Brown went missing in 2015, but were unable to find him.
They eventually issued a European arrest warrant for him, suspecting that Brown may have been kidnapped and taken out to sea, possibly en route to Ibiza or Thailand.
He olive press revealed at the time that Woods had been living on a boat called the Rosa de Londres, in the Alcaidesa de La Línea marina.
We established that Brown had been a “regular visitor” to the ship, while Woods regularly took “pleasure cruises” around the Mediterranean with tourists.
Brown had been dating Woods for a few months after splitting with the father of her son, Tony Tomillero.
“We have no doubt that he is responsible for what happened to Lisa,” Helen said.
“He had people who helped him escape Spain before so he could go back there and get the same help.
“There are more than a few people who know what happened to Lisa and we need them to come forward.”
Woods has denied any involvement in Brown’s disappearance.
