The BENIDORM City Council has installed seven new underground waste containers in Plaza l’Hort de Colon to make life easier for users and reduce bad odors.

The old traditional containers took up more space and generated more dirt in the environment.

The new underground containers will be introduced in other parts of the city.

Four of the l’Hort de Colon containers will be used for organic waste and the rest for containers, glass and cardboard.

The deputy mayor, Ana Pellicer, said: “This improves the appearance of the area and we have more containers that are buried with greater capacity.”

The benefits of the new waste disposal system include easier accessibility for users and much easier cleaning of the bins for council staff.

Benidorm residents are encouraged to use the proper containers for their rubbish and dispose of it in a timely manner.

The organic waste schedule is every night from 9:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., with glass tanks from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and from 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.
