Spain will send a batch of M113 armored vehicles to support Ukraine in its fight against the Russian invasion.

According to the country’s Defense Minister, Margarita Robles, the delivery of the personnel transport vehicles will be the second delivery of these vehicles to the Ukrainian army from Spain in the last six months.

Madrid also delivered more than 20 M113 armored vehicles to Kyiv in early September.

The M113 is one of the most popular armored personnel carriers in the world.

Development of the M113 began in 1956 with the goal of providing a light tracked armored vehicle for US Army infantry units.

The long-service M113 tracked vehicle is expected to help Ukraine repel a renewed military offensive by Russia.

The M113 was the first aluminum-hulled combat vehicle to be put into mass production. It introduced new aluminum armor that made the vehicle much lighter than previous vehicles; it was thick enough to protect the crew and passengers against small arms fire, yet light enough to make the vehicle air transportable and moderately amphibious.
