Las Vegas, Dusseldorf Officially the line is on volkswagen of course: Cariad stays, as CEO Oliver Blume recently said in an interview with the Handelsblatt. The automaker’s software unit, 2020 by flowerpredecessor Herbert Diess released is not in play, at least for now.

This assurance gives Cariad boss Dirk Hilgenberg creative freedom. Hilgenberg wants to make 2023 the “Year of Delivery”: “Our main topic now is the implementation of our goals,” he said in an interview with Handelsblatt. Hilgenberg admits that he has not been active enough in the past to provide information. “Now we communicate more transparently within the team, the brands and the outside world.”

Volkswagen’s software unit had recently caused problems for the group repeatedly: Whether with the electric Porsche Macan or with VW’s at least postponed Trinity headlight project, there was often a problem with the software, which it eventually stumbled upon. Blume’s predecessor, Herbert Diess. Like Diess, Blume is now the chief supervisor of the software unit. And he finally has to get the construction site under control.
