What is an inside bet?

If you were to look at the layout of a roulette table, you would notice that the main section of the layout is made up of a full table with a single number on each table. You will also find that each of those numbers is in a red or black font, or depending on the layout of the table, the numbers may be in red or black circles within the box. The boxed design contains numbers from 0 to 36.

This is the area where you can bet on a single number, if that is the bet you want to place. Since all of these individual numbers can be found within the wheel, this section is called the inside betting area.

What is an inside bet?

Now that you know where in the roulette table layout you can place an inside bet, let’s take a look at what inside bets you could place within one or two games of this casino classic.

upwards

As mentioned above, the inside betting area is where you can bet on a single number, if that’s what you want to do. By placing betting chips on a single number, this is known as a straight bet.

You can choose any of the numbers displayed on the table from 0 to 36. When placing a straight bet, be sure to place your betting chips in the center of the desired number box. If you are touching the edges of the box, it could be seen as a different type of bet, rather than a straight bet.

The betting odds for a straight bet are 35:1.

Pull apart

If you can’t decide between two numbers, and they are next to each other in the table layout, either next to each other or above and below, you can place what is known as a split bet.

To place a split bet, you will need to place your betting chips on the line between the two numbers you wish to bet on. It is good to note here that although the numbers are next to each other on the table, this does not mean that the numbers are next to each other on the roulette wheel.

The betting odds for a split bet are 17:1.

Snake

A snake bet has been given its name because of the snake shape that is created when this type of bet is placed on the table.

To place a snake bet, you will need to place betting chips on each of the following spaces: 1, 5, 9, 12, 14, 16, 19, 23, 27, 30, 32, and 34.

The betting odds for a snake bet are 2:1.
