A 31-year-old worker at a Benidorm gambling hall stole €18,992 from her employer and returned most of it to the establishment’s machines.

The salon owner suspected that one of his employees had a hand in the till because the money kept disappearing.

The daily readings from the cash register did not match and he checked the security cameras to discover that a woman had been robbing him.

Surveillance footage also showed her gambling the stolen cash at machines at the facility.

She has been arrested by the National Police for misappropriation and released on bail by a Villajoyosa court.

The National Police has also reported the arrest of another dishonest employee in Alicante.

A 34-year-old man worked as a delivery man for a parcel company, but was left with 12 packages, valued at €1,588.

The employee stole packages assigned for delivery by his colleagues so that no suspicion would fall on him.

The company manager received reports from disgruntled customers that the packages had not arrived and decided to set a trap to oust the thief.

Two ‘dummy’ packages were placed on the ‘shipping list’ and the unaware worker duly undertook to take them home with him.

He was reported to the National Police who dragged him before a judge in Alicante, who granted him bail.
