More than 600 kilos of cocaine valued at 21 million euros were seized this Monday in the port of Malaga, hidden among a shipment of bananas from South America.
The agents searched the container after carrying out meticulous analysis of the so-called ‘hot routes’ preferred by drug traffickers to introduce cocaine into Spain.
In early February, a comparative analysis of different shipments and reported incidents in the distribution chain raised suspicions among investigators about one particular container.
It led Customs Surveillance agents from the Tax Agency and the National Police to locate the container they considered suspicious and an inspection was carried out.

When the container was opened, it was found that more than 600 kilograms of cocaine were hidden inside legal merchandise, with a market value of more than 21 million euros.
Inspectors filmed themselves opening the container and rummaging through the bananas until they found wrapped bricks at the bottom that were later confirmed to be cocaine.
