A 51-year-old man has been charged with attempted murder after poisoning a co-worker at a metallurgical factory in Elche.
He poured ammonia and solvent into a water bottle that had his colleague’s name on it.
The perpetrator was quickly identified after the National Police learned that he discussed labor matters with the victim.
He also openly threatened to kill him.
Police scientists confirmed that the water bottle had been tampered with with the toxic substances.
The manager and staff at the metal factory said that the worker began to feel unwell after drinking the brewed potion.
They added that a strong chemical smell, similar to a solvent, came from the bottle.
The victim was urgently transferred to the IMED Hospital in Elche and discharged several days later.
