MÁLAGA is preparing to celebrate its big date with a red carpet; The 26th edition of the Malaga Film Festival is about to begin, and for the first time in three years it will do so without restrictions.

For ten days Malaga becomes the epicenter of Spanish cinema and attracts thousands of people to the city eager to attend the premieres and screenings of the best films on the national scene.

This year, the Malaga film festival aims to promote and celebrate Spanish and Portuguese-speaking cinema and will take place between March 10 and 19.

A total of 2,322 audiovisual productions were registered for this year’s event with cinema in Malaga, 20% more than the 1,949 last year.

The Official Section of this edition is made up of 22 films, among which the director Elvira Lindo’s debut feature, ‘Someone Who Takes Care of Me’, which won an award as the opening film, stands out.

In addition, as in previous editions, the Malaga Film Festival will feature a wide variety of events, in addition to film screenings, such as workshops, conferences and award ceremonies.

The festival will take place in various places in the city of Malaga, with the main stage being the historic Cervantes Theater located in the heart of the old town.
