‘Jihadi Jack’ along with 22 other radicals currently in Syria will be sent to Canada for repatriation, passports and emergency travel documents!

Jack Letts aka ‘Jihadi Jack’ was stripped of his British citizenship after fleeing his Oxfordshire home in 2014 to allegedly become an Islamic State fighter.

Letts held a duel of British and Canadian citizenship. However, he declared himself an ‘enemy of Britain’ and was fighting with the IS group as a teenager until 2017.

In 2017, Jack had been seized by the Kurdish authorities and had begged to return to the UK and now, along with others, he remains in detention by the Kurdish authorities.

After the British Home Office stripped him of his UK passport and citizenship in 2019, he left Canada with the responsibility of dealing with Letts. Him causing an uproar among other Canadian citizens, with some believing that allowing him into Canada is “terrorist sympathy.”

As his father was born in Canada, this is what gives Letts the right to Canadian citizenship and following a court ruling held on January 20. The Canadian federal court must repatriate more than 6 women, 13 children and 4 men currently being held in camps in northeastern Syria. This is due to the judicial case that was filed against the Canadian government, that the refusal of the detainees is a violation of their constitutional rights.

Federal Court Judge Henry Brown has ordered the federal government that repatriation of those currently detained be moved out of the camps as soon as possible, while also being issued passports and emergency travel documents. In his statement, Brown said a representative of the federal government must travel to Syria to facilitate the return of detainees after Kurdish authorities have agreed to hand them over.
