It has been formally confirmed that Chris Hipkins will succeed the outgoing Prime Minister of New Zealand. The attachment of him has also been determined.

Wellington – Former New Zealand Police and Education Minister Chris Hipkins will succeed outgoing Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern.

The 44-year-old was formally confirmed as successor by a Labor Party committee on Sunday, along with his future MP Carmel Sepuloni, representing Pacific Islanders. Hipkins announced at a news conference on Sunday that he would be sworn in as the new prime minister on Wednesday.

Ardern, 42, who has ruled the country since 2017, made a surprise announcement on Thursday that he would retire before February 7, saying he lacked the strength to continue. She is expected to step down shortly before Hipkins is sworn in as the country’s 41st prime minister. She will then lead the country in the elections scheduled for October 14. dpa
