FORECAST temperatures in the mid-twenties this week will finally give expats a reason to gloat with friends and family back home after a storm-lashed winter.

The city of Malaga can expect clear skies with scattered clouds and temperatures ranging from 12 to 23 degrees.

Spain’s national weather agency, Aemet, has forecast “warmer than normal” temperatures for Andalusia across the board throughout the week.

The warm wave should peak on Wednesday, with clear skies and temperatures up to 23 degrees and a light breeze in the afternoon.

The outlook is a bit bleaker for next weekend, unsurprisingly, with the possibility of cold snaps and showers.

But the good weather news comes after weeks of storms, strong winds and some heavy rainfall that have caused serious damage to the coastline and beaches in the province of Malaga.

The oncoming weather should finally allow work to begin repairing the damage from the recent storms.

But the only blemish on the horizon is the threat of ‘calima’ rain from the Sahara desert that could cover the land in red earth and cause mud deposits that affect roads and transport.
