Frankfurt, Berlin, Düsseldorf According to negotiating circles, after years of paralysis, talks between Germany and the Netherlands on the financing of power lines. These are essential to be able to bring electricity generated offshore to industrial regions. The so-called offshore wind power will expand considerably in the coming years.
Negotiations over how network operator Tennet’s billion-euro investments should be managed resumed in the autumn after a two-year hiatus. Tennet is owned by the Dutch state. Contrary to the government’s original plans in The Hague, direct German involvement is also being discussed, several people familiar with the negotiations told the Handelsblatt.
The federal government has an interest in seeing the talks conclude quickly, ideally in the summer. However, there is no fixed schedule.
