Strong winds are expected to return to Malaga province this Friday and over the weekend after last week’s storm hit the coast.
Once again the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) has had to update its coastal weather warning from yellow to orange.
The orange warning will come into effect from 08:00 today (Friday) for gusts of up to 70 km/h (force 7 and 8), as well as waves of 3 to 4 meters.
The orange warning, which is considered a significant risk, could see a repeat of last week’s scenes of wind-related incidents and sand-filled boardwalks.
The notice will be in force until 8:00 p.m. and will affect the coasts of Malaga, Cádiz, Granada and western Almería.
The wind is expected to decrease in intensity as the weekend progresses and the advisory should be lowered to yellow.
It’s not all bleak though: despite the wind, temperatures should reach 20 degrees in Malaga over the weekend and sunny, blue, clear skies.
Minimum temperatures will remain unchanged or slightly lower, while maximum temperatures may increase.
There may also be a slight presence of suspended dust (haze) in the southern region.
In the Malaga areas of Sol and Guadalhorce there are active yellow warnings for coastal time since noon on Thursday.
This also extends to the Axarquía, which will also be in force until the end of Friday, for easterly winds of 50 to 60 km/h and waves of three meters in height.
