ONE person died when three cars were run over on the AP-7 by the fence of a bridge that had collapsed on the AP-7 motorway in the province of Alicante.
The incident occurred around 2:45 p.m. Sunday morning on the section of highway that runs through the Algorfa area, south of the region.
A car that was circulating on the roundabout of the CV-905 bridge collided with the fence, going down a section to the AP-7.
The errant motorist sped off as the detached fence collapsed.
Two vehicles circulating on the road heading south towards La Zenia were hit by the fence and another on the road towards Elche.
A Belgian woman who was in the passenger seat of the car bound for Elche died, while the driver and a child suffered minor injuries.
Three people traveling in the other two vehicles suffered minor injuries.
The Civil Guard has not yet located the motorist on the bridge who fled.
