Washington american president Joe Biden is about to name a new chief of staff, according to a source. Former coronavirus coordinator Jeff Zients will take over soon, a person familiar with the matter said Sunday. Zients would thus play a key role in the course of a likely setting Biden up for re-election.

Biden is expected to announce next month that he will run again in 2024. Additionally, Biden is under investigation in the course of his Handling secret documents confronted The chief of staff is one of the most important people in the White House. Among other things, he drives the President’s political agenda.

Earlier on Sunday it had already been said that the previous chief of staff, Ron Klain, wanted to leave his position and had already informed Biden. The New York Times reported that Klain appeared to be leaving after the president’s State of the Union address on February 7.

Zients has spent much of his professional life in the private sector. He was the White House Covid Coordinator from early 2021 to April 2022. He had been praised for overseeing and implementing Biden’s vaccination campaign. However, there was criticism that the government did not ramp up testing capacities soon enough. Under Obama, Zients was a government economic adviser.
