Drug traffickers stole a pleasure boat from the Altea marina, in the province of Alicante, to turn it into a drug boat.
But one day after the robbery, the four men were trapped on the boat off the Murcian coast of Cartagena.
The 11 meter long boat had three powerful outboard motors and was valued at €400,000.
After the men took it, they headed south to Murcia.
By chance, a Civil Guard surveillance boat sighted the boat moving away from Cartagena.
Officers boarded the stolen boat and discovered that the thieves had quickly upgraded the interior for drug trafficking purposes.
Satellite phones, specialized GPS equipment, and frequency jammers to jam mobile phones were installed within a day.
The people from Almería, Cádiz and Granada appeared in a Cartagena court and with their records for drug trafficking they were sent to prison.
The ship has been returned to its rightful owner.
