The Civil Guard has located a motorist who caused chaos in early January by driving on the opposite side of the AP-7 motorway in the province of Valencia.

The 77-year-old kamikaze driver ran over on January 8 near the Sagunto service area.

It forced oncoming motorists to perform dangerous evasive maneuvers to avoid colliding with them.

Reports said he caused several accidents resulting in minor injuries after leaving the service area but traveling in the wrong direction.

The 112 emergency phone number received several calls complaining about the motorist who used the ‘left’ outside lane.

The surprised drivers had to brake hard to avoid a direct hit and swerve into the center lane.

Initially, information about the vehicle was scant, but complaints said it was yellow.

The Guard rebuilt surveillance images from cameras in various places to identify the offender.

The man has been charged with reckless driving and leaving the scene of an accident.

The offenses carry a prison sentence of between six months and two years, as well as the withdrawal of the driving license for a period of between one and six years.
