A BUSINESSMAN in Valencia was detained by a gang of four hooded men, who tortured him with an electric dog collar to access the contents of his safe.
It is also alleged that the criminals tied him up and beat him, even threatening to take the man’s baby with them if he did not hand over his valuables.
It is also alleged that they poured alcohol on him and struck a match.
It is believed that the incident, which was reported by the Antena 3 Espejo Público program, was well planned, since the criminals were aware of the movements of their target.
When he got to his house, the thieves posed as police officers to gain access to his property.
After torturing their victim for two hours, the criminals left with a loot of luxury watches.
The Civil Guard was investigating the crime and trying to locate the suspects, according to Espejo Público.
A police inspector told the program that this type of robbery is very unusual in Spain, but it is more common among gangs in Eastern Europe.
The modus operandi is reportedly for one group to locate a target and another to carry out the robbery. Early reports suggest that the thieves themselves had Spanish nationality.
