On Friday, January 20, the average price of electricity in Spain rises by 170.74 percent.

The average price of electricity for customers at a regulated rate linked to the wholesale market in Spain will rise by 170.74 percent on Friday, January 20, compared to today, Thursday, January 19. Specifically, it will stand at €90.78/MWh.

According to provisional data from the Iberian Energy Market Operator (OMIE)In the auction, the average price of energy in the wholesale market -the so-called ‘pool’- will be €91.20/MWh tomorrow.

The minimum price on Friday of €29.99/MWh will occur between 02:00 and 03:00, while the maximum price will be recorded between 19:00 and 20:00, when it will be 207, €80/MWh.

A compensation for gas companies of -0.42 €/MWh is added to this pool price. It must be paid by consumers who are beneficiaries of the measure, regulated rate consumers (PVPC), or those who, despite being in the free market, have an indexed rate.

In the absence of ‘Iberian exception’ mechanism If the price of gas for electricity generation is capped, the price of electricity in Spain would be around €119.85/MWh on average. It would be €29.07/MWh more than with the compensation to regulated rate customers, who will pay 24.26% less on average as a result.
